A: Since most newbies prefer RedHat Linux, i'll give you the url to Red Hat software:
You can either download RedHat Linux from their site, or you can buy their comercial version(Wich include the Metro-X accelerated server, while the free version only include XFree86.)
You could also try to search for the word "linux" on f.eks Yahoo.(www.yahoo.com) I'm certain you'll find alot of interest! :)
If you are an Linux-expert, you can try Debian. It is a really powerfull distribution and it contains a lot of developing stuff. I think this install is the most updated one, but as i said you need to be kind of an expert to manage the installation and administration. I(xopy) are using Debian after over 3 years of linux practicing..
Where to get it... http://www.debian.org or ftp://ftp.debian.org
Some guys reported that they like the slackware installation. It is really simple to install and it is user frendly. You can get a copy at ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/slackware/ and other sunsite mirrors.
