Everything was compiled under Linux 2.1.113 with gcc 2.7.2.3 and Qt 1.33. Those Qt libraries are a _MUST_ if you decide to start using this program. It was reported that new versions of Xamp doesn't work with older version of Qt (<1.3), so I suggest you to upgrade your Qt libraries.

Xamp source - needs working qt libraries and includes to compile
Just the gziped binary - needs the qt 1.33 libraries and a glibc system (libc6)
There are no libc5 (old linux) versions of new xamp, because I don't have a system like that and I don't know where to build them. So you can still get the older package, or I suggest you to update your linux box

I decided to start using Qt 1.3x since people nowdays can get that version from the Qt site easier. If you have an older version just fetch a new one from troll site and recompile or install it. Thats the eaziest way to make Xamp and other programs that require Qt to work.
